Chapman University, 2016

I had the privilege of visiting Chapman University as an invited chalk artist for their annual family open house and arts day.  I was so happy when they wanted me to recreate one of my favorite pieces. The Angel detail from DaVinci's "Virgin of the Rocks, II".

Sarasota, Florida Novermber 2015

The stars aligned and I was finally able to make my first appearance at the Sarasota chalk festival, with the theme "Eat, Drink and Be Merry"
I chose to recreate a pinup in a stretched perspective.   It was a fun festival with the opportunity to meet some incredible artists from around the world.

Provo, Utah September 2015

For Provo's festival at the Shoppes at Riverwoods, the theme for 2015 was "From Sea to Shining Sea".  I used photoshop and put together a composition representing "America the Beatutiful" in the center figure, and then depictions of our east and west coast with girls sitting on either side each with a paper boat (far apart, yet still the same).  All under the protection of a strong and beautiful bald eagle.  It was fun coming up with an original piece using the symbolism from the theme.

Denver, June 2015

This was a tough year for the Denver Chalk Art Festival.  The weather was not very cooperative... I had to start over three times!

I was given permission by the incredible artist Melanie Delon to create a chalk rendition of her original "Elixir".

I drew her in a stretched perspective so that she would look more "normal" from the base of the piece... less skewed for the viewer and therefore better pictures with your phone!

Downtown Disney and the Discovery Science Center in Santa Ana!

I had the wonderful opportunity to be a part of two very unique events in 2014.

The first was to demonstrate works by Leonardo da Vinci for the Discovery Science Center in Santa Ana.  They were hosting a traveling exhibit on the artist, and I created one of his Angels (detail from the "Virgin of the Rocks, II") in their parking lot for the exhibit's opening night, and a reproduction of his "Lady with an Ermine" in their back courtyard during the exhibit.

I was also asked to be part of a fantastic team chalking Disney themed art at Downtown Disney in Anaheim!  I did a 1 day 4'x6' piece inspired by Keira Knightly's character in the "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie series.  This fun event was held simultaneously at Disneyland in Anaheim, and Disney World in Orlando!  The multi-site event was coordinated by the incredibly talented Julie Kirk Purcell.

In 2014 I joined a fantastic group of talented artists both based in Denver, and from around the country... in chalking separate canvases inspired by the Harley Davidson Motorcycle brand for their anniversary celebration.  We started our work inside an air conditioned studio (WOW!)

And then our canvases were rolled up and transferred to the event site.

It was my first time chalking on canvas and I absolutely loved it!  I will never forget being part of this fun and unique experience.




In 2015 I was honored to be asked to do a chalk piece at the Natural Products Expo West at the Anaheim Convention Center!  Thank you Engredea and Capsugel for the opportunity to show how consumers are reaching for clear label!  Such a fun and informative event, and a brilliant use of the live camera airing video feed of the street painting at the booth inside the convention center!

Chalk the Block in Provo, Utah!

I would love to share my street paintings from my last 3 visits to the fabulous Chalk The Block festival at the Shops at Riverwoods in Provo, UT!

In 2012, I was still deeply in my Alphonse Mucha phase, and couldn't decide which of his pieces to do - so I chose to incorporate 3 into one piece!  I did a collaboration of his "Music", "Dance" and "Poetry" images and was so happy with how it turned out.

In 2013, I researched pinup artists and discovered the work of Rolf Armstrong.  He had so many lovely portraits!  Again, I couldn't choose just one, so I found 3 of my favorites, and joined them together with some framework.  The rainstorms that weekend were a challenge...but thankfully our last day was sunny and I just love my finished piece!

This was a biggie!  About 15'x11'

In 2014 I discovered the breathtaking illustrations of German artist Eve Ventrue.  With her most generous permission, I chose to combine parts of 2 of her illustrations into 1 image... and attempted my 2nd piece utilizing a stretched perspective.  This should help with how photos of the piece turn out from the standing viewer's perspective.  The overall rectangular dimensions are 13'x10' to start, and the finished inner trapezoid is 13' at the top and ~5' at the bottom (yup!)
